Bio treatment of organic oat

Oat preservation is promoted using VacQPack active controls on condensation and evaporation phenomena, tackling insect infestation and moisture dangers. In a conventional storage infrastructure, experience has shown that serious infestation might occur within three months, even in situations where risk is minimized by good handling and storage practices.

For a bio fumigation, in alternative to phosphine, the bulk needs to have a very low level of oxygen alternate with an inert gas, such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2) or Nitrogen (N2). Mind to consider that the percentage of gas flush is always determined by the client’s quality operations officer requisites.

Several studies have in fact explored since the beginning of the 2000’ the benefits of CO2 in comparison with other types of preservation, including chemical. Namely, MAP using CO2 can partly overcome the use of pesticides, the presence or the menace of infestations because it is toxic against insects, can promote bacteria inhibition and the extension of shelf life.

Also, VacQPack Cleanpack Combi is capable of packaging oat in big bulk and smaller packages, always delivering the same preservation parameters of vacuuming and controlled atmosphere. It’s an integrated solution that feeds on the same software and mechanical fluid control, meaning that the product although in dissimilar types of packaging has at all times the same preservation action.

Avena sativa

Good source of carbs and fiber, including the powerful fiber beta-glucan; contains more protein and fat than most grains; oats are loaded with important vitamins, minerals and antioxidant compounds.

Oats are direct-harvested as soon as the grain ripens to avoid shattering.
Oats harvested at more than 12% moisture should be dried (aeration or grain dryer) before storage.

Keeping the Oats dry and free from fungal growth is the most imperative prerequisite for sound storage. The all-out moisture content at which Oats can be securely warehoused is 12.5% unless the temperature is reduced under 15°C.
